Ineos Grenadier Put to the Test in Potash Mine Challenge

Ineos Grenadier Commercial: A VAT-Exempt Off-Road Workhorse

The Ineos Grenadier has earned a reputation as a capable off-roader, but commercial buyers have faced challenges reclaiming VAT on the Utility Wagon model. To address this, Ineos has introduced the Grenadier Commercial, a tailored 4×4 that qualifies for VAT refunds and lower benefit-in-kind tax rates.

Replacing the two-seat Utility Wagon, the Grenadier Commercial undergoes key modifications to meet commercial vehicle classification. The rear windows are now solid aluminium panels, ideal for branding, while the rear passenger door windows and split cargo door windows have been blacked out. Additionally, chassis mounting points for rear seats have been permanently disabled, ensuring it remains a dedicated cargo vehicle.

The load space now features a full-length flat floor and a floor-to-roof cargo barrier behind the front seats, allowing it to accommodate a standard 1,200mm x 800mm Euro pallet securely. With cargo loaded to the roof, the vehicle offers over 2,000 litres of storage capacity.

Under the hood, the Grenadier Commercial retains its BMW-sourced 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder petrol or diesel engine, delivering the same 3.5-tonne braked towing capacity. It also maintains its box-section ladder frame chassis, heavy-duty solid beam axles, two-speed transfer case, and up to three locking differentials, ensuring no compromise in off-road performance.

“Customers in the UK have been asking for this since our launch in 2022, so we’re pleased to introduce it so quickly,” said George Ratcliffe, Commercial Director at Ineos Automotive. “The Grenadier’s versatility allows these modifications without sacrificing driving dynamics or off-road capability.”

Pricing & Availability

Manufactured at Ineos’ Hambach facility in France, the Grenadier Commercial is converted in the UK by Pontypool-based specialists EDC Limited.

Pricing starts at £51,931 plus VAT and on-the-road costs, with orders now open. First customer deliveries are set for late June.
